The other day I had a rare moment in my 8th period class. They are by the way, my biggest, rowdiest, and tallest (basketball players) class. And at the end of the day. So by that time I'm usually pretty tired.
This was a rare moment when they were all quiet, and writing notes, and I just had this overwhelming feeling of I love my job.
I'm glad I do what I do. I love hearing my akward, gangly, teenage students say "hey, I get it!" or "I remember you taught us that!" And I love to see them all hard at work. It makes me very glad I didn't switch my major all those times I thought about changing.
Life is pretty good.
But I'm still not a morning person. :)

Beaver
So Luna has been channeling a beaver the past couple of weeks, and has been gnawing on lots of new textures. Her favorite texture is wood, which creates a small inconvenience when she shreds a stick on the carpet, and a major inconvenience when she gnaws on the side of thee dresser, or a chair leg.
So this week I'm following behind my little beaver wannabe with some Spackle for the poor drywall (its not too bad) and some stainable wood filler for our poor chairs and dresser. Its been a fun project, I pop in season 3 of the Office (thanks lil bro!) and use my handy-dandy putty knife and fill away. It's almost therapeutic. Almost.
Next step, sand, paint and stain the damage so *hopefully* no one will know.
I feel so handy right now...

Calamitiy
Dinner disaster averted tonight thanks to Papa Murphy's family sized pepperoni pizza and breadsticks. Could be worse.
Details to come RE President's Day weekend.

Waiting
I keep waiting to get used to my teaching schedule, to feel like I'm getting ahead, to get one of my projects done, to feel less tired....
It hasn't happened yet, and I'm trying not to get discouraged.
But man, oh man I'm tired!
Here's hoping for a relaxing President's Day Weekend.
...and a good nap

Repurposing
Along with my new obsession with DIY projects (none of which have happened yet. C'mon spring!) I've seen some really cool and creative ideas for repurposing old and perhaps beloved objects that don't get used in their 'normal' way. I thought this idea from Real Simple was so pretty!

Another thing I found (at the top of the closet in a dusty box) was a beautiful cakestand we got for our wedding that I never thought I'd find a use for and wanted to return forever. Well, not I'm in love with it being on my dresser. I'm using it basically for the same purpose as this picture frame, and the picture frame will be used as a tray on my side-board dresser. :)
This is fun! Its like shopping, but in dusty boxes in my own closet!
